Passed away at home, with her family by her side, on February 14, 2023 at the age of 77 years. Mieke Mahood (nee Vullings), beloved wife and best friend of Grant Edward ‘Ted’ Mahood. Predeceased by her first husband Ken Widenmaier. Dear mother of Mandy Taylor (Jason) and Shawn (Angela). She will be sadly missed by her four grandchildren Casey, Jillian, Desmond and Marlo, who she cherished with all her heart.
Survived by brothers Gerard Vullings (Myrnah), Lambert Vullings (Jennifer), and sisters Wilma Boisvenue (Frank) and Nelly Krzyzanowski (Mike). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late Theodore and Mary Vullings (nee Verheyen).
Mieke was employed at the Pembroke General Hospital (PRH) for thirty-three years, Mieke later found passion in her retirement years, volunteering with the PRH Ladies Auxiliary, the Renfrew County Senior Games, and with Pembroke’s 50 + Active Living Centre. She was notorious for her limitless energy, positive attitude and welcoming personality accompanied by her constant smile.
At Mieke’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers Mieke requested donations to the Pembroke 50 + Active Living Centre, Pembroke. At a later date and time to be announced an informal Celebration of Life will take place.
