Obituary for Brian Morris Cotnam

BRIAN MORRIS COTNAM
MARCH 27, 1945 - OCTOBER 11, 2021

"THE PUCK STOPS HERE!!"

Brian passed away peacefully at Miramichi Lodge Pembroke on October 11th, 2021 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease at the age of 76. Predeceased by his parents Graham and Fern Cotnam and brother Murray. Survived by his sister-in-law Margaret, Brighton Ontario and niece Judy Hodgins Brighton and nephew Rob Cotnam Pembroke. Cotty (Slick) Cotnam was born in Pembroke on March 27, 1945. He lived in Beachburg until November 1986, when he moved to Pembroke.

He graduated from Pembroke Collegiate in 1964 and began working at AECL Chalk River until his retirement in 1998.

Brian had been involved with sports all his life. He was a member of the Beachburg softball team, winning the Upper Ottawa Valley championships in 1966 and 1967. Brian excelled as a goaltender and tended nets for the Beachburg Flyers hockey team, winning the Laurentian League championship in 1976. After moving to Pembroke, he played in the Thursday night Sportsman League, followed by several years with the Pembroke-Petawawa Old-timers.

Brian has finally joined a number of his good friends from that team!! The family would like to thank the warm and caring staff at Miramichi Lodge for their compassionate care over the past number of years. A graveside service will be held at the Beachburg Union Cemetery on Tuesday, October 19th, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.

Memorial donations would be appreciated to Miramichi Lodge Auxiliary. Arrangements in care of the Murphy Funeral Home, Pembroke.
