Catherine Alix Delahaye
1926–2022
Retired R.N., Graduate of the Ottawa Civic Hospital School of Nursing Class of 51B

Alix Delahaye of Pembroke, daughter of the late Charles and Alexina (nee Cattanach) Delahaye and step-daughter of the late Freda (nee Doberman) Delahaye. Dear cousin of Heather Glen (Cameron), their son Rob, Roselle Green and family, Brian McEwing, Colin McEwing, Dave McEwing and Sandra McEwing. Alix was known as “Aunt Alix” to many, including Clark Anderson, Leslie Anderson, Sandra Black, Sue Joly, Darcy MacLeod, Douglas MacLeod, Elizabeth MacLeod, Janice MacLeod, John MacLeod, Mark MacLeod and Paul MacLeod. She was a dear friend of Jo’ and Bob Andrews, Donald and Wanda Lafleur, Mike and Joyce Montaigne and Carol and Doug Wilcox.

Born November 16, 1926, in Brandon, Manitoba, Alix graduated from Ottawa Civic Hospital in the class of 1951B and became a Public Health Nurse in Pembroke. An active member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church Pembroke, she was a delegate to Synod; travelled to Matagalpa, Nicaragua, to help with a medical centre there; prepared Christmas puddings and Christmas boxes; sang in the choir and much more.
Alix made many friends thanks to her numerous activities, including creating stained glass windows, gourmet cooking, photography, quilting and many other crafts. In 2015, she moved to the Pinewood Retirement Residence in Pembroke.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Alix during visitation at the Murphy Funeral Home, 296 Isabella Street, Pembroke, on Wednesday April 6th from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. A service to celebrate Alix’s life will take place at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 68 Renfrew Street, Pembroke, on Thursday April 7th at 1:00 p.m. Interment in the United Church Cemetery, Alexandria.
