Obituary for Clarence Recoskie

Clarence Recoskie
Suddenly, at home, on Thursday January 6, 2022 at the age of 78 years. Clarence Recoskie of Pembroke, beloved husband of the late Marjorie Recoskie (nee Gallant). Loved father to James Recoskie (Victoria), Ottawa, Mike Recoskie (Lynn), Pembroke and Michelle Recoskie (Tim Pelletier), Combermere. Loving grandfather to Brittany (Jimmy), Amy, Matthew, Thomas, Richard, Christopher, Joshua and great granddaughter Sophia. Dear brother of Gilbert Recoskie, Anna Mary Mask (Alec), Phyllis Sernoskie (Stanley), Kenny Recoskie (Ann), Rosemary Borutski (Lawrence) and the late Gerard Recoskie (Joan). Clarence will be sadly missed by all his nieces and nephews. Son of the late Maxwell and Mary (nee Yeretch) Recoskie.

Dad was the descendant of Polish immigrants who taught him the importance of family and hard work. He loved to talk about his early life on the family farm in Wilno, working with the horses, and all the shenanigans he and his brothers and sisters got up to when they were young.
At an early age he left the farm behind and went to, as he put it “work in the bush” logging pulp wood before moving to the “big city” of Kitchener to work at the Schneiders plant. It was in Kitchener that he would meet his wife Marjorie, and where they would eventually welcome their three children.

Eventually he moved the family back to Pembroke and he started work at the Storwal plant. He spoke often of this time and how he enjoyed working with his colleagues at Storwal, many of whom he kept in touch with even though many years had passed. He would often tell us about running into someone at the bank or in the mall, and then proceed to tell us a story about them that we had likely heard many times before.
Dad was a very proud great grandfather and grandfather. He enjoyed talking with his grandchildren and hearing about their daily life adventures.

Such was Dad’s enjoyment of friends and family. He always had a cold beverage in the fridge for those who wanted one and he loved to sit and chat while listening to old country tunes. He was always happy to meet new people, friends of ours quickly became friends of his. Many of them would join us for shuffleboard or cards and before long he would be poking fun at them as if he had known them for years. Always quick with a joke, he liked to laugh. Even during the more serious of times, he could still see the lighter side of the situation and carried on.
We will miss those chats, the Whoppers and the shuffleboard. Until we meet again dad. Keep the beer cold and the table hot, we will bring the loonies.

A Private Family Service will be held on Friday at the Murphy Funeral Home, 296 Isabella Street, Pembroke. Spring Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Wilno. In memory of Clarence donations to the Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated by the family.
