Douglas James Simpson

Douglas James Simpson, 68, of Pembroke, Ontario, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 28th, 2022, in Kitchener, Ontario.

Doug was born in Pembroke to Alan and Sally Simpson on July 3, 1953. He graduated from Fellowes High School in 1971. He went on to earn a degree in English from Carleton University in 1975. He worked as a passionate teacher in section 23 for the Waterloo Region District School Board for over 25 years. Doug was an avid storyteller with interests in sailing, motorcycling, the outdoors, cycling, bagpipes, and more. Doug lived many memories in Algonquin Park both as a park ranger and canoeist.

Doug is survived by his children Kelsey Simpson; Alana Horst (Jeff), and Caitlin Deckert (Steve); siblings Jennifer (Ken), Mark (Cindy), James (Karen), Thomas, and Matthew; nieces and nephews Briana, Scott, Jansen, Jaime, Stefanie, and Kate. Loving Pampy to Amelia, Callie and expected Baby Horst. He is predeceased by his mother, Sally; father, Alan and niece, Sadie.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Doug with his family during visitation at the Murphy Funeral Home, 296 Isabella Street, Pembroke on Friday from 7 – 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday March 5, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church 280 Lourdesview Drive Pembroke. Interment St. Columba’s Cemetery.

MASKS MUST BE WORN IN THE FUNERAL HOME AND THE CHURCH
