Obituary for Elizabeth Guimond (Marchand)

Elizabeth Guimond
Just as the lyrics her childhood neighbor Paul Anka wrote “I Did It My Way” ,Elizabeth left this world her way, a strong, dignified, determined lady, surrounded by perfection and love on February 6th.

Predeceased in 2008 by the love of her life Patrick whom she met while both were working at Loblaws on Bank Street in Ottawa. Moving to the Ottawa Valley with his career advancements, they lived in Renfrew, Deep River, Morrison Island, Hazley Bay and Pembroke. Each pristine home illustrating his outstanding handiwork and carpentry skills and her love of gardening and flair of décor.

Survived by daughters Jackie (Dennis) and Charlene(Kevin). Proud Grandmother of Bradley, Josiah, Abi, Sam, Jacob, and Seth and eight Great Grandchildren.

Born in Ottawa March 11, 1940, to Edmour Marchand and Dorothy Irish, Mom was surrounded by the love of her large family. Second oldest of eight siblings Dorothy, Andree, Edmour Jr, Robert, Blaine, Claude, and Gilles.

After her children went to school, she began her career with the North Renfrew Times, followed by Contempora Jewellers, Guaranty Trust, and Scotiabank.
Talented seamstress, needleworker, cross county skier, proud member of CWL, 20+ year member of Hospital Auxiliary and recipient of 1995 Pembroke Observer Readers’ Choice Favorite Bank Teller Award, Ontario Government Volunteer Service Award, and many horticultural awards.
She stated on many occasions that she was blessed with a wonderful life. She was incredibly fortunate and immensely pleased to proudly be able to remain in their house with tremendously appreciated support from her circle of friends most notably Pat Mahon and neighbors,Tony, Sheila, Scott,Kip, Vickie, Dan, Tracey, and Steve to name a few.

May she rest in peace after a full, long, remarkable life. In lieu of flowers or donations, she would most appreciate paying it forward by doing something thoughtful for someone else. Just imagine how different our world would look if we gave the kind of love to others that God has given us through Jesus. (John 13:14)

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held in the spring where she will join her beloved husband and rest peacefully in eternity.

Elizabeth would wish for people to pay it forward by doing something thoughtful for someone else. She modelled that well during her life.
