JILL LOUISE (LACROIX) LYON
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother, sister, auntie and friend to many, Jill Lyon.
Jill was diagnosed with ALS last October and endured this grim disease with courage this last year.
On October 21st, in her 66th year, surrounded by her family in the comfort of her home, Jill left us to join her parents, brother, and many other family members.
Jill was born and grew up in Sherbrooke, Quebec. She was the fourth child of six children Maureen, Susan, Joanne, Paul and the late Michael, of Jean-Guy and Celestine “Teenie” Lacroix. She married her childhood soulmate, Steve Lyon in 1985. Together they moved to Ontario and spent the last 28 years in Pembroke where they raised their two sons, Brandon and Cole.
She opened her home and established a day care center which she lovingly managed, caring for over 30 children up until July this year.
Jill was devoted to her boy’s curling pursuits and enjoyed being out at all the local games and tournaments. You would often see Jill knitting while cheering at her boys games. She was a passionate supporter of youth curling to the point that she introduced the “Wave” normally only associated with baseball.
Jill was immeasurably devoted to her beloved family which was everything to her. She had a quiet and unique personality and faced every challenge head-on. We are so grateful for her essence in our lives.
Despite her rapidly declining health, Jill never complained. In her heart there was always “somebody worse off than me” who deserved attention. She and her family have only praise and gratitude for her doctors, nurses and local health supporters who helped her along the way.
Forever loved; never forgotten. Jill has found her wings; yet, we know she will be there is spirit watching over us as we continue down our own paths in life.
Friends and family are invited to join us for a celebration of Jill’s life at the Murphy Funeral Home, 296 Isabella Street, Pembroke on Saturday October 29th at 3:30 p.m. Final Interment Notre Dame des Neiges Cemetery, Montreal.
