Obituary for Ruby Coulas (Gilmour)

Ruby Charlotte Coulas
January 14, 1935 to October 9, 2022

Passed away peacefully after living with Parkinson's Disease with her loving family by her side. Predeceased by her devoted husband of 66 years, Arnold, her parents Nelson and Rubena (nee Wright) Gilmour and her brother Hugh (late Evelyn). She is survived by her adoring children Amos (Lynn), Gwen and Wayne along with her cherished grandson Kristopher. She is also survived by her siblings Raymond (Vera) and Shirley (Howard) Herrington. Ruby will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Ruby had many roles -among them she was a Red Cross Homemaker, earning the title of Homemaker of the year, a long standing member of her church's Catholic Women’s League and a volunteer at the Pembroke Regional Hospital. She was best known for her kindness and compassion. Her sunny disposition and sense of humor had a positive impact on everyone that she met. She was always ready to extend a helping hand to anyone in need, helping them in any way that she could. A fabulous cook and baker, always with some sort of needle work, numerous crafts, reading and doing puzzles, Ruby was always on the go. After selling her home she resided initially at Pinewood Retirement Residence, then joining her husband at Miramichi Lodge.

Ruby was born at her home, becoming the oldest of four siblings. She grew up knowing the value of hard work. She has touched many lives and will be missed by all.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Ruby with her family during visitation at the Murphy Funeral Home at 296 Isabella Street on Friday October 14th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday October 14th at 1:00 p.m. in St. Columbkille's Cathedral, Pembroke.
