Obituary for Stephen Hohban

Hohban, Stephen

It is with profound sadness to announce the passing of Stephen Hohban at the age of 57 on Monday January 17, 2022, following his courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Debi Hohban (nee Denny). He is survived by siblings Chris, Cliff (Yeli), Roberta, Shelley (John), Lori and Karin, stepfather Ted, stepmother Charlotte. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews, close childhood friends Lorne and Wayne, and his church family at Whitewater Wesleyan Community Church. Preceding him in death his mother Inez Winter (nee Gervais) and father Kenneth Hohban.

We always admired how Steve lived his life to the fullest, devoting his time to the things he loved most: fishing(especially his fishing kayak), rock/mineral collecting, hiking and hunting. He loved all things sports, especially hockey and football. His happy place was spending time at the cottage that he and Debi built together along with his precious Koda. He will be remembered for his incredible sense of humour and unique ability to put a smile on your face, his unmatched ability to make the best faces ever, and unwavering faith and commitment to God. Steve created masterful meals in the kitchen that he shared with family and friends, and the “happy gang” at his church. He produced a 382-page cookbook with his favourite recipes, an epic work of art. At the end of this book, Steve quoted “Within each of us, there is a great light that never ceases to shine.” Steve, your light will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
