Theresa Edna Gallen
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Theresa Edna Gallen (nee Arseneault) on Friday, September 30, 2022 at Guelph General Hospital. Theresa Gallen in her 95th year was the beloved wife of the late Clifton Gallen. She was the loving mother of Dianne Van Wert of Guelph, Brian Gallen (Cindy) of Stratford and Marlene Bruce of Ottawa. Theresa was the proud grandmother of Chris Van Wert (Laurie), Erin Martel (Moise), Lindsay Gallen, Jamie Coleman (Sam), Daniel Bruce (Crystal), Kelly Bruce and Shaun Tabbert and Nana (great-grandmother) of Macayla, Zackary, Olivia, Abigail, Norah and Isla. Predeceased by her parents, Narcisse and Euphemie (Downing/Donelle) and her brothers Emile, Emery, Edgar, Edmond, Doe and Eloi and her sisters Annie and Geraldine.
Mom was born in Cocagne, New Brunswick; she was very proud of her Acadian roots and still has many nieces and nephews in the Shediac area. She met Dad while working in the Moncton hospital and they moved to Pembroke in 1953 when Dad was employed by A.E.C.L. in Chalk River. Mom worked in the laundry at the Pembroke General Hospital until her retirement. She leaves behind many dear friends in Guelph and Pembroke.
We wish to extend our gratitude to the Emergency Department staff at Guelph General Hospital for their compassionate and comforting care and to the staff and residents at Stone Lodge Retirement Home for caring for Mom the past years.
Cremation has taken place.
A Memorial Service will be held at Murphy Funeral Home and Chapel Ltd., 296 Isabella Street, Pembroke, Ontario on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 11 a.m. Inurnment to follow at St. Columba's Cemetery, TV Tower Road, Pembroke.
As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
