His love of mathematics lead him to his career of surveying the streets and buildings of downtown Toronto from 1956 to his retirement in 2016. He was a huge part of the modern development of the City of Toronto playing a large role in the construction of several landmarks including the CN Tower, Skydome, and the modernization of the Royal Ontario Museum. He loved music, classic movies, summers at the cottage and winters in Florida. Bill was a truly humble and unassuming man but he had a true gift of gathering many admirers along his road of life. His easy going nature and true interest in each individual he crossed paths with left an imprint on any anybody lucky enough to have met him. He had an aura about him that was truly a rare gift.
